One fine Kinkozan Vase, impressed mark
This
very elegant japanese Satsuma Vase was by made by one of leading
manufactures of the Meiji Period, around 1910.
The
Vase is signed with the impressed mark "Kinkozan"
.
Size
approx: 12 inches (or 30 cm)
It
realy is an outstanding vase, as well in composition as in execution.
One side shows trailing wisteria and waterbirds, peking ducks
I believe, the other side shows japanese quail ( also known
as Coturnix japonica, stubble quail or eastern quail - correct
me if I am wrong here) in their natural habitat.
The
vase is finely painted by hand over the glaze in cobalt, gold,
silver and multi colored enamels.
The
cobalt blue sections are evenly covered with a nearly abstract
feather design in gold and silver.
CONDITION:
EXCELLENT!
no
chips, no cracks, no repairs, no wear to the gilding, only tiny,
tiny dots of the silver color have turned black.
This
vase is a must for any devoted Satsuma collector!
